A girl in our society wants to be independent for herself so that even she can have her own identity in this world, she can make herself financially secured and not be dependent on anyone else.
A girl's father finances her education, so that her girl can be something in her life, be it Doctor, Engineer, Chartered Accountant, Lawyer or something else. So that she can have her own identity and known by her own name in this world.
A girl dreams herself to be something what she want to be for rest of her life for which she work hard taking it a challenge and opportunity that her family is supporting her to achieve her dreams.
The reason why we always hear girls be topper in every exams being it school, college or professional exams. Rank holders are in most cases be girls. The reason is for Indian girls, it's a challenge of her life to work hard to be something. As for boys, it's obvious for them given any circumstances, they have to get well education, family support, no matter what their academic records are or how well financed they are. Boys in our society bound to get all the permissions and enjoy all the facilities irrespective how serious they are towards it. But for girls, they got to fight for their rights and after being given a chance, it becomes challenge for them to complete their wishes within time limit (say before marriage) or later with restrictions by her in-laws.
What if a girl wants to work after completing her education or courses? She has no choice to continue her life the way she want after her marriage or if in case she's allowed, she's given limitations in that too?
Many Indian families want professional daughter-in-law to match with their son's education or profession but what's the use if couple of years later they ask her to leave her job and focus on household work. Or she's not allowed to work till late night or not all days or limited by location (not to travel away from home). Then why do these families seek for professional daughter -in-laws? Just for the sake to flaunt in the society that we aren't that backward? Forget about professional women, even a graduate woman is not allowed by many families to work just to satisfy their egos what society would think or doubt about their son's ability to earn.
I ask to such families, would you do the same with your daughters? I am sure majority answers would be 'NO' and if you do with your daughters the same, you are just wasting a human talent that girl would have.
A woman can do anything even what a man can't in all fields whether it's work or home. What about the girl who came alongwith her dreams after marriage to the another house where she got married. Lot of claims are made that 'we would treat you as our daughter or you are my daughter' but when it comes to action, a girl's dreams get shattered. Indian girls cannot raise their voice because of various reasons - pressure from her own parents, husband, in-laws, society but what about her own life?
Already a girl faces lot of challenges and responsibilities in her life even after she's not physically that strong as man, still it's only her to face the mental pressure as well and that too just for her own wishes.
Now-a-days there are girls who raise their voices, there are very few families who support their daughter-in-laws just like their sons, there are men who raise voice for their women (afterall a married man is no more a boy and one should take a stand for his woman on whom she's relying in the house).
We need a huge revolution yet! Though many families claim that they allow their daughter-in-law to work. Frankly, they all are just pretending to be modern! And what the fact is we all know.
